Bellevue University - Online Business Analytics Programs
Bellevue University’s offers an online Master of Science in Business Analytics program and an online Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics program. The master’s program targets three areas fundamental to business analytics: organizational leadership; IT systems; and statistical and quantitative methods. Master’s program students must complete 36 credits of coursework, or the equivalent of 12 classes, which can be done in 18 months by full-time students, or 36 months by part-time students. The bachelor’s program encompasses 127 total credits, including 45 in the Business Analytics major, and is the equivalent of a 4-year undergraduate program. It also accommodates full-time and part-time students. All of the coursework in both programs is offered 100% online, with no required campus visits.
Bellevue’s online master’s and bachelor’s degrees are designed to accommodate working professionals by providing a rigorous, yet flexible online learning environment. The school utilizes asynchronous instruction, which gives students on-demand access to videotaped lectures and other course materials 24-7. Students must meet certain deadlines and keep pace with each course, but they can choose when to watch lectures and work on various assignments. In addition, students can chat with classmates and instructors in real time through an online learning platform, and have access to additional video tutorials on their own schedule.
The online Master of Science in Business Analytics degree is built on a three-pronged foundation of coursework in business, analytics, and information systems. Students are required to take five Business Foundation classes for a total of 15 credits. These include: Business Performance Management; Financial Reporting & Analysis; Human Capital & Organizational Performance; Business Analysis for Decision Making; and Marketing & New Media Strategy. Business Analytics coursework (12 credits) covers four subject areas: SAS Programming for Business Analytics; Enterprise Data and Information Management; Advanced Business Analytics; and Advanced Data Mining Applications. The remaining credits (9) come in the area of information systems, where students can choose 3 courses from a list of options like: Business System Programming, Information Security Management, Managing Emerging Technologies, and IT Strategy and Policy. There is no capstone or research requirement in the program.
The undergraduate online Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics program also targets three foundational knowledge areas within business analytics. To complete the major, students must take six Business Foundation courses: Microeconomics; Financial Accounting; Managerial Accounting, Principles of Marketing; Principles of Finance; and Introduction to Management Science. Four Information Science Foundation courses are required: Structured System Analysis and Design; Business Telecommunications; Information Systems Strategy, Management, and Acquisition; and a programming class in Java or C#. The third major subject area is Business Analytics, and includes the following five courses: Applied Statistics; Base SAS Programming; Enterprise Data and Information Management; Introduction to Business Analytics; and Data Warehousing and Mining Applications. In addition to these courses within the major, and general education coursework, undergraduates at Bellevue University are required to complete the Kirkpatrick Signature Series of three courses: American Vision and Values; Tradition and Change; and Freedom and Responsibility.
