Georgetown’s MSBA program utilizes synchronous online instruction and asynchronous work. Students in the program take two courses per seven-week term and must be logged on to the program’s digital learning platform for weekly virtual class meetings with instructors and classmates. These live online sessions will be scheduled to ensure those working part-time or full-time can easily attend. The program also uses a cohort model, which means groups of students begin and progress through the program’s 18 courses together, after which students spend two terms (14 weeks) completing team-structured capstone projects in which the knowledge and skills acquired in the program are applied to a real-world business analytics problem.
The online MSBA program offered by the McDonough School of Business emphasizes the use of analytics theories, concepts, and methods to inform decision making and lead innovation and change in business organizations. Instructors employ case studies in business analytics, provide students with access to real-world databases, and provide training and instruction in four key areas of business analytics: data analytics tools; computing and technology; business functions; and data-empowered management. The courses students are required to take include: Statistics; Machine Learning; Predictive Analytics; Programming; Applied Economics; Customer Analytics; Strategic Marketing Analytics; Modeling Analytics in Operations; FinTech; Data Ethics and Privacy; Psychology of Big Data; Visualization and Storytelling Data; and Using Data to Lead Change.
Georgetown University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and the McDonough School of Business has accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).
