New Jersey Institute of Technology - Online Master of Science in Computer Science with a Specialization in Database & Data Mining
The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) offers a Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) degree with a specialization in Database & Data Mining that targets the knowledge and skills associated with the field of data analytics. Students learn to use computer technologies for data mining, data management, and the scientific analysis of big datasets. The degree requires students to complete 30 credits of coursework, which can be done in five semesters, or approximately one-and-a-half years. This program is 100% online and does not require any campus visits.
NJIT’s online programs utilize a learning management system (LMS) that supports asynchronous instruction. Video lectures can be streamed on-demand, and assignments and other course materials are accessible to students 24/7. Students can contact instructors electronically, and interact with classmates through LMS discussion boards.
NJIT’s MSCS degree is built on a foundation of four core courses that cover the foundational elements of information technology and data management. These include: Data Structures and Algorithms; Operating System Design; Data Management System Design; and Internet and Higher-Layer Protocols. The Database & Data Mining specialization includes three additional required courses: Data Mining; Advanced Database System Design; and Cloud Computing. The remaining credits necessary for graduation are then completed through elective coursework in subject areas like Network Management and Security; Enterprise Database Management; Systems Analysis and Design; and Web Mining.
NJIT is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
