Online Master's in Data Analytics and Data Science Programs in Oklahoma

There are currently two schools offering online master’s in analytics programs in Oklahoma: Oklahoma State University (OSU), and The University of Oklahoma (OU). OSU offers an online analytics program that has three master’s in data analytics tracks and a master’s in data science track. And OU has an online master’s in data science program. These programs are 100% online and do not require any campus visits.

OSU’s Spears School of Business offers an online Master of Science (MS) in Business Analytics & Data Science program with a core curriculum that covers topics in descriptive and predictive business analytics, business intelligence systems, data warehousing, and computer programming for business analytics and data science. The program has concentrations in Marketing Analytics, Health Analytics, Cybersecurity Analytics, and Advanced Data Science. It uses asynchronous instruction, which gives students on-demand access to videotaped lectures and other course materials, and it is designed for part-time enrollment. Students can typically complete the program in two years. New applicants are accepted into the OSU program twice per year, in the fall and in the spring.

OU’s Gallogly College of Engineering offers an online Master of Science in Data Science and Analytics (DSA) program. Overseen jointly by the School of Computer Science and the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at OU, the program focuses on the design and use of database management systems, algorithmic programming, and statistical modeling. Students have the option of completing a data science master’s thesis or participating in a data science practicum at the end of the program.

The data science program at OU offers both full-time and part-time enrollment. It is designed for students who have one year of previous programming experience, or the equivalent in undergraduate coursework. Students can complete the program requirements in as few as 14 months, or extend the time to graduation by taking fewer courses per semester. The program has two annual start dates, in the fall and in the summer.

In addition to the two in-state schools that offer analytics programs, there are 75 out-of-state schools offering 93 online master’s in analytics degrees that currently accept applicants from Oklahoma. This includes schools that offer online master’s programs in data analytics, data science, and business intelligence. Only 14 of these 75 schools require campus visits (no more than two per year). The other 61 schools offer programs that are 100% online. Several online programs charge the same tuition costs for in-state and out-of-state online students, but applicants should confirm this with each school before applying.
