Maryville University - Bachelor of Science in Finance

The John E. Simon School of Business at Maryville University offers an online Bachelor of Science in Finance degree. The program offers a blend of financial knowledge with management, marketing, communication, and analysis skills. Future occupations for financial services graduates may include financial planning, customer service, portfolio management, mortgage services, financial advisors, and operations management.

Students may begin the BS in Finance program in the fall, spring, or summer. The degree may be completed in four years on a full-time basis. Each student participates in a senior internship or senior project in the financial industry.

Maryville University uses the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) which supports synchronous and asynchronous course delivery. Students have opportunities to participate in synchronous (real-time) discussions with peers and faculty. In addition, students have access to asynchronous video lectures, VoiceThread presentations, discussion boards, and slideshows. Each learning module links to all of the materials needed for the week including activities, readings, discussion boards, and assignments.

The online Bachelor of Science in Finance comprises 128 credits including general degree requirements, a business core, financial services major courses, and financial services electives. The business core includes courses such as Financial Accounting; Managerial Accounting; Business Communications; Digital Foundations; Business Statistics; and Principles of Marketing. The financial services major courses may include Personal Finance; Financial Institutions; Portfolio Management; Money and Banking; and Securities Analysis/Investment Techniques. Electives include three of the following: Financial Planning; Topics in Finance; Financial Services Internship; and Consumer Market Behavior.

Maryville University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The John E. Simon School of Business is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
