Benedictine University Graduate Certificate in Health Management and Policy (CEPH-Accredited)

The School of Graduate, Adult and Professional Education at Benedictine University offers an online Graduate Certificate in Health Management and Policy. This CEPH-accredited program focuses on the assessment of current practices and recommendations for change in the healthcare industry. Designed for professionals in governmental, public, and private healthcare organizations, this certificate prepares graduates to move into leadership roles in their industry. In addition, the courses for the certificate can be applied to the full Master of Public Health degree.

The Graduate Certificate in Health Management and Policy is 100% online with no campus visits required. The certificate consists of 16 credits including three required courses and two electives. The program is part-time and can be completed in nine to 12 months. Courses begin six times per year, in January, March, May, June, August, and October.

Benedictine University utilizes the Engage Learning Management System (LMS) to manage course offerings and materials. Students participate in live chats, virtual webinars, discussion boards, and virtual student groups. The program follows the best practices of the Community of Inquiry (Col) framework to keep students collaboratively engaged in the online format. In addition, Benedictine University welcomes feedback concerning the online program and continues to identify and implement changes where necessary. Faculty maintain weekly office hours, participate in discussion boards and live chats, and provide student feedback.

Required courses for the Graduate Certificate in Health Management and Policy include: Public Health Systems; Health Policy; and Management of Health Services Organizations. In addition, students choose one of two electives: The Business of Health Care, or Marketing of Health Services.

Benedictine University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The Graduate Certificate in Health Management and Policy is part of the Master of Public Health program which is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
