Utica University – Online Master of Health Care Administration (MHA)

The MHA program begins in January, May, or August. The program consists of 36 credits and can be completed in as little as two years on a part-time basis. The program is 100% online and does not require any campus visits.
Utica University uses the Engage Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver courses asynchronously. To promote collaboration and relationship building, online interactions include discussion boards, email, and chat. Students also complete four synchronous virtual residencies which consist of a Saturday spent online with faculty and classmates. These take place at the beginning of the following courses: Health Care Systems, Organizational Leadership, Leadership in Marketing and Strategic Planning, and The Health Care Administrator Leader.
Required courses for the online MHA include Health Care Systems: A Continuum of Care; Health Care Ethical and Legal Issues; Leadership in Marketing and Strategic Planning; Health Care Accounting Processes; Advanced Seminar; Quality Management and Performance: Improvement in Evidence-Based Healthcare; and Human Resources Management. Students then choose 12 credits of electives from any category. Elective courses include: The Economics of Health and Health Care Policy; Nursing Home Administration; Health Care Financial Management; Perspectives in Gerontology; Health Informatics; and Health Care Administrator Leader. Finally, students take a capstone course in which they complete a cumulative project in order to apply course learning to real-world situations.
