Colorado is home to the Colorado State University System, which is comprised of residential campuses in Fort Collins and Pueblo, and the fully online affiliate Colorado State University Global (CSU Global). CSU Global is just one of the publicly funded schools in Colorado that offer online master’s programs. The University of Colorado, which has campuses in Boulder and Denver, also offers online master’s programs, as do most of the schools that are overseen by the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Out-of-State Schools in the Colorado Region That Offer Online Master’s Programs

Colorado residents who are interested in discovering more about the options for earning a master’s degree online through schools located in other states may want to begin by exploring several colleges and universities located in the neighboring states of Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The University of Nebraska, a state-funded system with campuses in Lincoln, Omaha, and Kearney, offers a broad range of online master’s programs through NU Online. These include online master’s programs in applied science, business administration, criminal justice, education, finance, history, mathematics, political science, public administration, public health, and social work. Most of these programs accept applicants from Colorado.

The state of Kansas is home to two large public universities that offer online programs. Through KU Online, The University of Kansas offers online master’s programs in business, education, engineering, health professions, journalism, social work, and communication. Kansas State University (KSU) has online master’s programs in business, communication, education, engineering, and psychology fields that it offers through its Global Campus initiative.

While IPEDS classifications do not align with the names of specific online master’s programs, our analysis of the IPEDS data does provide a general picture of the subject areas most commonly pursued by master’s-level students attending colleges and universities in Colorado. Online Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) Programs in Colorado

Colorado residents who are interested in earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree through an online program offered by an accredited public or non-profit private school in Colorado have a number of options, including several programs offered by public universities. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) offers an online MBA program with flexible enrollment that allows students to complete their degree in as few as 18 months or to take up to five years to graduate. The UCCS program has specializations in Finance, Innovation Management, and Health Care Administration.

The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) offers an online MBA program through its Montfort College of Business that can be completed in as few as 12 months. The UNC program has a general business curriculum and specialization tracks in Health Care Administration and Human Resource Management (HRM).

The CU Business School at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) offers an online Professional MBA program with full-time and part-time enrollment options and nine specialization tracks: Accounting; Business Intelligence; Change Management; Entrepreneurship; Finance; General Business; Information Systems; Management for Sustainability; and Marketing. And Adams State University has an online MBA program that can be completed in two years and that has specialization tracks in: Finance; Health Administration; Leadership; Public Administration; and Sport Leadership.

Regis University and Colorado Christian University (CCU) are two private non-profit schools in Colorado that offer online MBA programs. Regis has an online Professional MBA program with specialization tracks in: Accounting; Finance; Health Industry Leadership; Marketing; and Strategic Management. In Arizona, for example, there are two public universities that offer online MBA programs: Arizona State University (ASU); and The University of Arizona. ASU’s W.P. Carey School of Business has a 24-month online MBA program that gives students the option of a specializing in: Finance; International Business; Marketing; or Supply Chain Management. There are two public universities in the state of Kansas that offer online MBA programs as well. Through KU Online, The University of Kansas offers an online MBA program with a Global Leadership focus. Kansas State University (KSU) has an online Professional MBA (PMBA) that is designed for students who have a minimum of three years of relevant professional business experience, and that has an International Business focus. The KSU program begins with a two-day, campus-based orientation session and includes a faculty-led study abroad experience.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) and Oklahoma State University (OSU) are two additional schools in the Colorado region that offer online MBA programs. UNL’s program has five specialization options: Business Analytics; Finance; International Business; Marketing; and Supply Chain Management. And the OSU program, which has an accelerated, 12-month completion plan and a traditional, 18-month, full-time enrollment plan, offers specializations in: Business Sustainability; Energy Business; Entrepreneurship; Global Marketing; Human Resource Management; Information Assurance; Marketing Analytics; and Nonprofit Management.

Online Master’s in Counseling and Psychology Programs in Colorado

There are several online program options for Colorado residents who are interested in earning a master’s degree in counseling or psychology online through an in-state school. Colorado Christian University (CCU) has an online Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program that is designed to prepare students to pursue a license to practice clinical counseling in Colorado. The program includes clinical internships and requires online students to attend five-day residential training sessions at CCU’s Lakewood campus three times while earning their degree.

Adams State University offers an online MA in Counseling with two specialization options: Clinical Mental Health Counseling; and School Counseling. Both tracks are designed to prepare students for licensure in Colorado and both require students to attend one-week campus-based intensives in the summers following the first and second year. Students in the program must complete a practicum and an internship at appropriate sites approved by the program.

There are two schools in Colorado that offer online master’s in psychology programs. The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) has an online MA in Educational Psychology program with a Teaching Applications emphasis that is designed for educational professionals, although it does not prepare students for additional licensing or certification. And Regis University has an online MA program with an Applied Psychology specialization that includes coursework in social psychology, human growth and development, trauma, and eco-psychology.

Colorado residents who are interested in out-of-state options for earning a master’s in counseling degree online may want to explore the program offered by New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU), as well as the programs offered by Bellevue University in Nebraska and the University of Wyoming.

NMHU has an online MA in Counseling program that allows students to choose from tracks in: Clinical Mental Health Counseling; Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling; Rehabilitation Counseling; Rehabilitation Counseling with a Specialization in Vocational Evaluation; and School Counseling. Graduation requirements for NHMU’s online MA in Counseling program differ by track. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, and School Counseling tracks are 60-credit licensure tracks; they include a clinical internship, a final case presentation or professional paper, and several courses that have a campus-based component. The non-clinical Rehabilitation Counseling track is fully online and requires the completion of 48 credits of coursework. The Rehabilitation Counseling with a Specialization in Vocational Evaluation track is 54 credits and may require students to attend a limited number of campus-based classes.

Bellevue University has an online Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. The program is designed to prepare students for licensure in most states and includes a 100-hour clinical practicum, 600 hours of required internship experience, and two on-campus residency sessions in Bellevue. And the University of Wyoming has an online MS in Counseling program with two specialization tracks: Community Mental Health Counseling; and School Counseling. The program can be completed in three years and includes a clinical practicum and several hundred internship hours.

Two of the state universities in Kansas have online master’s programs in psychology. Through Kansas State University (KSU), Colorado residents can earn an online MS in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (MIOP) degree online. The KSU MIOP program requires students to attend two campus intensives at the university’s Manhattan campus in summers after the programs first and second years. And The University of Kansas (KU) offers an online MA in Applied Behavioral Science program that is designed to prepare students for certification by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB).

Arizona State University (ASU) and Oklahoma State University (OSU) are two additional out-of-state schools that offer online master’s in psychology programs. ASU has several types of online master’s programs in psychology: an online MS in Psychology program; an online MS in Forensic Psychology program; and an online MS in Family & Human Development program. And OSU has an online MS in Educational Psychology program.

Note: Online master’s in counseling and some online master’s in psychology programs require students to complete practicums, internships, and other types of field education experiences at program-approved sites. Colorado residents who are considering online programs offered by out-of-state schools may want to contact program administrators in advance of submitting applications regarding potential field placements. It is also important to note that licensing requirements for professional counselors vary by state. Colorado residents who are considering online master’s in counseling programs offered by out-of-state schools should review Colorado’s licensing requirements to ensure that a program’s curriculum will meet those requirements. Licensure for professional psychologists typically requires a doctoral degree.

Online Master’s in Education Programs in Colorado

Among the numerous schools in Colorado that offer teachers and educators an array of options for earning a master’s degree online are several state schools: the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver); the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS); the University of Northern Colorado (UNC); Colorado State University (CSU); and Adams State University.

CU Denver offers online Master of Arts (MA) programs in a broad range of education specializations. These include: Early Childhood Education; Learning, Design, and Technology; Literacy Education (Reading and Writing with Endorsement); Educational Research and Evaluation Methods; and STEM Education. Several of these online MA program have additional options for specialization. For example, the Early Childhood Education program allows students to choose from three concentrations: Administration and Leadership; Diversity and Inclusion; and Teaching and Learning. The Learning, Design, and Technology program has four concentrations: eLearning Design and Implementation; Instructional Design and Adult Learning; Digital Media for K-12 Teachers; and Teacher Librarian Leadership. The Educational Research and Evaluation Methods program has a general track and an Assessment track. And the STEM Education program allows students to choose between specializations in Mathematics Education or Elementary Math and Science.

The College of Education at UCCS offers three online master’s programs in education and teaching fields. UCCS has an online MA in Curriculum & Instruction program for licensed teachers that allows students to choose from five designated specialization or to take a mix of elective courses from several of the program’s specializations, which include: Culturally Linguistically Diverse Education; Science Education; Leadership, Research, and Foundations; Special Education; and Instructional Technology. UCCS also has an online MA in Leadership and Principal License program, and an online MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program.

UNC offers an online Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in English Education program for education professionals who have at least one full year of teaching experience at the 7-12 grade levels. The MAT in English Education program has nine options for specialization: Composition and Literary Studies; Literature, Film, and Writing; Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education; Literacy; Special Education; Psychology; Statistics & Research Methods; Curriculum Studies; and Technology, Innovation and Pedagogy.

Through UNC Extended Campus, UNC offers a number of additional master’s programs in education fields, including the following online MA programs: Educational Leadership (Principal License); Educational Leadership & Special Education Administration; Technology, Innovation, & Pedagogy; Literacy; Mathematics with a Teaching Emphasis; Science Education; Multilingual Education; and Special Education. The online MA in Special Education program has four areas of emphasis: Deaf & Hard of Hearing; Early Childhood Education; Intervention Specialist; and Visually Impaired.

UNC Extended Campus also offers several master’s programs in teaching specializations that are primarily online but that require students to attend a limited number of summer campus sessions in Greeley. These include: an online MA in Teaching American Sign Language program; an online MA in Dance Education program; an online MA in Gifted Education program; an online Master of Music (MM) with a Music Education Emphasis program; and an online MA in Theatre Education program.

CSU Global Campus offers an online Master of Science (MS) in Teaching and Learning program with various specializations and pathways. Students in the program can opt to specialize in: Contemporary Practices in K-12 Online Learning; English (K-12 Educators); English Language Learning (ELL); K-12 Education Technology and Instructional Design; Math (K-12 Educators); Online Learning Innovation and Design; or Teacher Leadership. CSU Global’s online MS in Teaching and Learning program also gives students the flexibility to choose a pathway that may lead to additional licensure or certification. Among the pathway options are: Principal and Administrator; English Teaching and Leadership; and Instructional Design.

Adams State University offers an online MA in Teacher Education program for licensed teachers that has three options for endorsement or curricular emphasis: Education Curriculum and Instruction; STEM Certification; and Principal Licensure. Adams State also has an online MA in Higher Education Administration & Leadership (HEAL) program for higher education professionals that requires students to attend a campus-based orientation session at the start of the program and a leadership summit prior to graduation.

Regis University and Colorado Christian University (CCU) are two private non-profit schools in Colorado that offer online master’s programs in teaching and education. The programs offered by Regis include online Master of Education (MEd) programs in: Educational Leadership; Elementary Education; Reading; Secondary Education; and Special Education. Regis also offers an online Master of Arts in Education (MAE) in Teaching the Linguistically Diverse program. The online MEd in Reading and the MAE in Teaching the Linguistically Diverse programs are designed for educators who already hold a teaching license; the other online MEd programs offered by Regis do not require students to be licensed teachers.

CCU offers several online master’s programs in education, including an online Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction (MACI) program. The online MACI program has an Alternative Licensing track for students who do not yet hold a Colorado teaching license, as well as tracks in Biblical Education and in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education. Among the other online master’s programs offered by CCU are: an online MEd in Educational Leadership program for experienced teachers, administrators, and district personnel; an online MEd in Special Education with licensure and non-licensure tracks; and an online MEd in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education program designed for licensed teachers.

Oklahoma’s Northeastern State University, a public university located in Tahlequah, is one of the schools in a state bordering Colorado that offer online master’s programs in teaching and education. Among Northeastern State’s online offerings are MEd programs in: Early Childhood Education; Instructional Leadership; Reading; School Administration; Science Education; and Special Education (Autism Spectrum Disorders). Southeastern Oklahoma State University (SOSU), another public university in Oklahoma, also offers a number of online MEd programs, including programs in: Educational Leadership; Special Education; and Curriculum & Instruction. The online MEd in Curriculum & Instruction program offered by SOSU has specializations in: Educational Technology; English; English as a Second Language (ESL); Math; Science; and Theatre Pedagogy.

In the neighboring state of Wyoming, the University of Wyoming is one school that offers several online master’s programs in education. Through its School of Counseling, Leadership, Advocacy, and Design, the University of Wyoming offers an online MA in Higher Education Administration program, as well as an online MA in Educational Leadership program that is designed for teachers who have a minimum of two years of experience at the K-12 level.

The University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) also offers several online MEd programs that teachers and educators in Colorado may want to explore, including programs with specializations in: School Librarian; Secondary Education; Elementary Education; Montessori (Early Childhood and Elementary); Reading; Special Education; STEM Education; and English as a Second Language (ESOL). UNK also has an online MA in Educational Administration program, an online MAT in Mathematics program, and an online Master of Applied Science (MAS) program with a Science for Educators specialization.

Note: Licensing for teachers and other education professionals is administered at the state level and licensure requirements vary by state. Colorado residents who are considering online programs offered by out-of-state schools should review Colorado’s licensing requirements prior to initiating the application process in order to ensure that the training offered by an out-of-state school satisfies Colorado’s licensing requirements. Students who are considering programs offered by out-of-state schools should also note that some online master’s in teaching and education programs require internships at program-approved sites. Online Master’s in Nursing (MSN) Programs in Colorado

There are several schools that offer Registered Nurses (RNs) in Colorado in-state options for earning a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree online. For example, the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) has four online MSN specialization programs, including Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Health Care Informatics, Leadership (iLEAD), and Veteran and Military Health Care (VMHC). The FNP program is a part-time, cohort-based program, which means students begin and progress through the program in groups, completing 42 credits of didactic coursework and 630 clinical hours in eight semesters. Students in the FNP program must also attend several campus-based intensives. The Health Care Informatics, iLEAD, and VMHC programs require the completion of clinical hours but are fully online and allow students to progress through the curriculum at their own pace provided they complete the degree requirements within seven years.

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), University of Northern Colorado (UNC), Colorado Mesa University, Regis University, and Colorado Christian University are five additional schools in the state that have online MSN programs. UCCS offers an online MSN program with a Nurse Practitioner (NP) focus and a curriculum that allows students to specialize in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP), Family (FNP), or Psychiatric-Mental Health (PMHNP) nursing. While UCCS does not require students in its online MSN program to attend campus-based sessions, all three specializations require the completion of 630 hours of clinical experiences at program-approved sites.

UNC offers an online MSN program with an AGPCNP specialization that requires students to attend two on-campus summer intensives at the school’s Greeley campus and to complete 540 clinical hours at program-approved sites. The UNC program can be completed in three years, or nine semesters. And Colorado Mesa University offers an online MSN program with an FNP track and a Nurse Educator track. The FNP specialization requires 700 clinical hours, and the Nurse Educator track requires 250 clinical hours.

Regis University has four online MSN program options for RNs, including a Master of Science Completion Option (MSCO) program specifically designed for certified NPs who want to earn an MSN degree without changing their clinical specialty, a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) program, an FNP program, and a Leadership in Health Care Systems program. The FNP and NNP programs require students to attend several on-campus intensives at Regis University’s main campus in Northwest Denver; the MSCO and Leadership in Health Care Systems programs do not require any campus visits. And Colorado Christian University (CCU) offers an online MSN program with a specialization in Nursing Education that requires students to complete 245 clinical hours, and an online MSN program with a Clinical Care Management in Adult and Geriatrics specialization that focuses on the core foundations of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Adult and Geriatrics role and requires students to complete 500 clinical hours.

Among the regional out-of-state schools offering online MSN programs that Colorado residents may want to explore are the University of Wyoming, The University of Kansas (KU), The University of Arizona, and Clarkson College in Nebraska.

The University of Wyoming’s online MSN program has a rural healthcare leadership focus and two specialization tracks: Nurse Educator; and Nurse Leader. Both specializations have flexible enrollment options that allow RNs to complete their degree in as few as five semesters or to take up to six years to graduate.

The University of Kansas’s Medical Center (KU Medical Center) has an online MSN program with tracks in: Nursing Education; Organizational Leadership; and Public Health Nursing. The KU program is designed for RNs who have a minimum of one year of professional nursing experience and can be completed in two years of full-time study or three to four years of part-time enrollment.

The University of Arizona’s online MSN program has a Clinical Systems Leadership curriculum, a 15-month track for RNs who hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN), and a 24-month track for RNs who received their training in an associate degree program. And Clarkson College offers an online MSN program with four specialization options: Nursing Administration; Nursing Education; FNP; and AGPCNP. Students who opt for Clarkson’s NP specializations are required to attend a limited number of campus-based instructional sessions at Clarkson’s Omaha campus.

Note: Online MSN programs require students to complete clinical hours in person at sites approved by the program. For this reason, Colorado RNs who are considering online programs offered by out-of-state schools should contact program administrators regarding clinical placements prior to submitting applications. In addition, Colorado residents who intend to apply for licensure in an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specialization should review Colorado’s licensing requirements prior to applying to an out-of-state online MSN program, as these requirements vary by state.

Online Master’s in Accounting Programs in Colorado

There are three schools in Colorado that offer online master’s in accounting programs: Colorado State University (CSU); Regis University; and Colorado Christian University (CCU). CSU Global offers an online Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) program that allows students to choose from five areas of emphasis: Data Analytics; Fraud Investigations & Forensic Accounting; Auditing & Assurance; Taxation; and Professional Accounting. The program is designed for students who hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, students who have prior professional accounting experience and 15 credits of undergraduate accounting coursework, and students who hold an MBA degree with 12 credits of college-level accounting coursework.

The program offered by Regis University is an online Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) program comprised of ten courses. The program has four options for specialization: Financial Accounting; Fraud/Forensic Accounting; IT Accounting; and Managerial Accounting. Applicants to Regis University’s online MSA program who do not have prior accounting experience or a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting may be required to take up to six additional preparatory courses before enrolling in the master’s-level curriculum.

Colorado Christian University (CCU) offers a 30-credit online MSA program that can be completed in as few as 15 months by full-time students but that has flexible enrollment options for students who would prefer to enroll part-time. The program is designed for students who hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or who have completed coursework equivalent to an undergraduate major in accounting.

There are three out-of-state schools in the Colorado region offering online master’s in accounting programs that Colorado residents may want to explore. The University of Arizona offers an online MSA program through its Eller College of Business. The program has five prerequisite courses that students who hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting are exempt from and a 30-credit graduate curriculum that includes six accounting courses and four electives that students select from Eller College online graduate courses in accounting, business, management, and marketing.

Southern Utah University (SUU) is another out-of-state school in the Colorado region that has an online master’s in accounting program. The SUU program is a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program with a flexible structure that allows students to take all of their courses online or combine online courses with campus-based classes. Students in the program can take just one course or as many as five course per semester. And Oklahoma Christian University offers a MAcc program that can be completed entirely online or through a mix of online and on-campus courses. Students who enter the SUU program or the Oklahoma Christian University program with a bachelor’s degree in accounting can complete the program in as few as 12 months.

Note: While most online master’s in accounting programs can prepare students to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam, CPA eligibility requirements vary by state. Prior to applying to an online master’s in accounting program offered by an out-of-state school, Colorado residents should review the state’s CPA licensure process and requirements to ensure that a program’s curriculum satisfies Colorado’s training requirements for CPAs.

There are several schools in Colorado that offer online Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, including Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver), the University of Denver, and Colorado State University (CSU). MSU Denver’s online MSW program has a flexible structure that allows students to complete all of their didactic coursework online or to enroll in a mix of online and campus-based courses. The program has an advanced generalist curriculum that covers proficiencies in clinical and macro practice social work, and a one-year Advanced Standing track for qualified students who hold a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Traditional students who hold a non-social work bachelor’s degree can complete the MSU Denver program in two years.

The University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work offers an online MSW program with two concentrations: Mental Health and Trauma (clinical practice); and Health and Wellness (macro practice). The program has a traditional track with full-time (21-month) and part-time (27-month) tracks, and an Advanced Standing track that takes 18 months to complete.

CSU offers an MSW program that is mostly online but that requires students to attend two weekend campus intensives per semester at the school’s Fort Collins campus. The program, which has an advanced generalist curriculum, can be completed in three years by students who do not hold a BSW degree and in two years by students who qualify for the program’s Advanced Standing track.

The University of Kansas (KU), New Mexico State University (NMSU), and the University of Nebraska at Omaha are three out-of-state schools in the Colorado region that offer online MSW programs. The KU program gives students the option of a clinical practice track or a macro practice track. While most of the KU program’s coursework is offered online, students in the macro practice track must attend campus-based classes one day every two weeks during the second year of the two-year program. The clinical practice track has three specialization areas: Children and Families; Mental Health; and Aging. KU’s online MSW program has an Advanced Standing option that allows qualified students to skip the first year of the program and graduate in one year.

The School of Social Work at NMSU offers an online MSW program with an advanced generalist curriculum. The program is full-time and takes two years to complete. Students in the program are required to enroll in four courses per semester and engage in 16 to 24 hours of field education per week. The NMSU program focuses on social work practice with populations in the Southwest.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha offers an online MSW program through its Grace Abbott School of Social Work. The program has an advanced generalist curriculum, a ten-semester part-time enrollment plan, a six-semester full-time enrollment plan, and an Advanced Standing track that can be complete in three or four semesters.

Note: Online MSW programs require students to complete field education hours in person at sites approved by the program. This may be an important consideration for Colorado residents who are considering programs offered by out-of-state schools. It is also important to note that that licensing requirements for clinical social workers vary by state. Colorado residents who are considering online programs offered by out-of-state schools should contact individual program administrators regarding field placements and state-specific licensing issues prior to initiating the application process.

Online Master’s in Computer Science and Information Technology Programs in Colorado

There are several schools in Colorado that offer online master’s programs in computer science and/or information technology (IT). Colorado State University (CSU) offers an online Master of Science (MS) in Information Technology Management through CSU Global that allows students to choose from numerous specialization options, including: Business Intelligence; Cyber Security; Organizational Leadership and Change Management; Project Management; Strategic Digital Information Marketing; and Strategic Innovation and Change Management.

CSU also offers an online Master of Computer Information Systems (MCIS) program through the College of Business and Department of Computer Information Systems at CSU’s Fort Collins campus. The 33-credit program requires students to complete a five-course core followed by six electives in specializations like Business Intelligence, E-Business Application Technologies, and Applied Data Mining and Analytics.

The University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) has an online MS in Information Systems program that it offers through its Business School. The 30-credit program has full-time and part-time enrollment options and two specialization tracks: Business Intelligence; and Cybersecurity and Information Assurance.

The University of Denver has an MS in Information and Communications Technology program that offers several specializations online, including: Cybersecurity Management; Database Design and Administration; Geographical Information Systems (GIS); Information Systems Security; Mobile Application Development; Project Management; Software Design and Programming; Technology Management; Telecommunications Technology; and Web Design and Development.

In addition, the College of Computer & Information Sciences at Regis University has an online MS in Information Technology Management program with nine emphasis options: Agile Technologies; Cybersecurity; Database Administration; Database Design; Data Science; Enterprise Resource Planning; Health Care Informatics; Policy Management; and Software Engineering.

Among the out-of-state colleges and universities that offer online master’s programs in computer science and IT are several schools in neighboring states, including Arizona State University (ASU), and the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech). ASU has an online Master of Computer Science (MCS) program and an online MS in Information Technology program that are offered through ASU Online. The online MCS program has an optional concentration in Cybersecurity. The MS in Information Technology program has two focus areas: Computer Architecture and Information Security; and Information Systems Management and Systems Development. New Mexico Tech offers an online MS in Computer Science program with an optional thesis track and an optional IT specialization.

Online Master’s in Health Administration (MHA) Programs in Colorado

Colorado State University (CSU) is one of the schools in Colorado that offer online Master of Health Administration (MHA) programs. Offered through CSU Global, the program requires students to complete 24 credits of core MHA coursework and 12 additional credits in one of CSU Global’s master’s degree specializations. These specializations include: International Management; Organizational Leadership and Change Management; Population Health; and Project Management.

The University of Denver’s University College offers an online Master of Science (MS) in Healthcare Management program with a curriculum that is similar to an MHA curriculum. The program is structured around five core courses in healthcare management, four courses in one of the program’s seven concentrations, and three additional electives. The program’s concentrations include: Global Health; Health Data Informatics and Analytics; Health Policy and Regulatory Leadership; Managing Legal Issues in Healthcare; Medical and Healthcare Information Technologies; Strategic Leadership in Healthcare Organizations; and Supply Chain Management.

Regis University offers an online MS in Health Services Administration with a curriculum that focuses on financial, legal, and administrative management issues in the health services sector. While prior professional experience in a health services field is not required for admission to the Regis program, the program is designed for students who have some professional experience and admissions preference is given to applicants who have at least two years of relevant prior work experience.

Outside of Colorado, there are several regional schools that offers online master’s programs in health administration. Oklahoma State University (OSU) offers an online MHA program through its Center for Health Science. The OSU program has an Administration concentration and a Leadership/Entrepreneurship concentration. Another Oklahoma school, the University of Oklahoma, offers an online Master of Arts (MA) in Human and Health Services Administration (HHSA) that is similar to an MHA program and that includes a 225-hour internship that students complete at health and human services agencies and organizations.

In Arizona, there are two schools that offer online master’s programs in health and healthcare administration. The University of Arizona in Tucson has an online MS in Healthcare Management program with three concentrations: Healthcare Leadership; Healthcare Innovation; and Healthcare Informatics. And Arizona State University (ASU) has an MS in Science of Healthcare Delivery program with a curriculum that focuses on systems quality improvement in healthcare, organizational leadership, and healthcare enterprise management.

Online Master’s in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Management Programs in Colorado

There are two schools in Colorado that offer online master’s in electrical engineering and engineering management programs: the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder); and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS).

CU Boulder has several master’s in engineering programs that are offered in an online format, including an online Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MS-EE) program, and an online Master of Engineering (MEng) in Engineering Management program. The 30-credit MS-EE program has six specializations: Embedded Systems; Power Electronics; Photonics and Optics; Control and Communications; Electromagnetics, RF, Microwaves, and Remote Sensing; and Computer Engineering. The MEng in Engineering Management program is designed for students who hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a comparable technical field, and most applicants who are accepted by the program have two or more years of prior professional experience in an engineering field.

UCCS offer an online Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (MEEM) program with a Systems Engineering emphasis, a Case Studies in Engineering capstone project, and business coursework in engineering marketing, operations, and business analytics. The program is designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a comparable technical field.

Colorado residents may also want to explore online master’s in engineering programs offered by out-of-state schools in neighboring states, including the states of Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) offers an online Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program that provides training in engineering and in business proficiencies. The program is designed for professional engineers who have a minimum of two years of prior work experience.

Oklahoma State University (OSU) offers two master’s programs in electrical engineering through its College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology: an online MEng in Electrical Engineering program with an applied engineering focus; and an online MS in Electrical Engineering program with a curriculum that is designed to prepare students for further graduate studies at the doctoral level. OSU also offers an online MS in Engineering & Technology Management program.

Kansas State University (KSU) offers an online MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering program with two concentrations: Electrical Power Systems; and Communication and Networking. The program is designed for students who have a bachelor’s degree in engineering. In addition, KSU has an online Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program that is designed for students who hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, or science. Applicants to KSU’s online MEM program are expected to have some prior professional experience in an engineering field and must complete three years of work experience prior to receiving their degree.

Online Master’s in Public Health (MPH) Programs in Colorado

The University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Leadership and Public Health Practice program through CU Online and the Colorado School of Public Health. The 42-credit program features core coursework in biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health, and health systems management, as well as concentration courses in leadership, management, and budgeting in public health. Applicants to the program, which has a flexible enrollment policy to accommodate working professionals, are given admissions preference if they have prior professional experience in the public health sector.

Among the out-of-state schools in the Colorado region that offer online MPH programs are the University of Nebraska and New Mexico State University (NMSU). The University of Nebraska offers an online MPH program through the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. The 42-credit program gives students the option of six specialization tracks: Biostatistics; Environmental and Occupational Health; Health Services Administration & Policy; Epidemiology; Health Promotion; and Maternal & Child Health. NMSU has a 42-credit online MPH program with two concentrations: Health Behavior and Health Promotion (HBHP); and Health Management, Policy and Administration (HMAP). Students in the NMSU program are required to complete a field experience at a public health agency or organization approved the program.
